RE: Rockwood vs. Flagstaff

same product but different name, Kinda like Chevy & GMC. It helps keep close dealers from selling the same products.

RE: 2500HD steering

My 2006 with 24k miles is going in shortly for its 3rd intermediate shaft. Im getting kinda tired of this annoying little issue. Its not the rattle that bothers me as much as taking the truck to the dealer, since its under warranty their going to fix it.

RE: Chrysler finanacial quitting the lease market

Believe it or not when we bought our Subaru Tribeca, the salesman actually went over the disadvantages as well as advantages of a leased car. IIRC The biggest disadvantage was leasing a car that depreciated too fast. At the end of the lease you would pay more than the car was worth and if you traded it for another lease you would lose as well. Best case for the consumer was for the car to hold resale value.
Jeep is in deep doo doo as far as EPA numbers. Probably why they green lighted the Compass/Calibur to add to their line up. It is also probably another big reason they are canning the Commander soon. Chrysler has too many Hemi's and not enough of anything else.
FWIW I thought most cars ran MAF sensors now?
when your lease is done you walk away? At least youre not upside down like so many people are these days. High residuals=lower lease payments and vice versa. You know exactly where you stand when you sign the papers and if the market takes a dump the lease company eats it. The problem with buying today is if you want to remain in a newer vehicle like you would with a lease you either need a big downpayment or finance for 3 years or less to keep from getting upside down. My last truck, a 2004 F1504x4 was financed for 5 yrs, I had $3k down and at purchase and 2.5 yrs later at trade in on my duramax I tossed another $5k from savings on the principle. I still had to roll a loss into my new truck. Now I see locally Ford is offering new F150 ext cab 4x4's for $20k with employee pricing and incentives, what about the poor bastard that just paid about $6k more last week? He's got a brand new new truck and hes already taking it from behind. Funny thing is, by now we all should know late july is fire sale season in the auto industry, we're idiots for buying sooner.

RE: Looking at NEW 5ver Montana 3585

We are looking at Rear Kitchen 5th wheels right now and I have read a few reports about issues with things breaking because of the rear kitchen and bouncing around etc. Have any of you had issues with this. My wife is pretty set on the rear kitchen but she doesn't want all of her dishes broken every trip either.
Thanks,
Dennis
we once had a can of beans come out of a cupboard in our rear kitchen, otherwise everything is just as we left it. Ive even left the coffeemaker on the counter, it was still there when we got home.

RE: Wasn't paying ATTENTION

Heck if you didnt debate the purchase price the dealer should fix it free, he probably made an extra $10k on the deal.

RE: Looking at NEW 5ver Montana 3585

Weve also got a 2007 307RKD and love it. After owning for over a year now we've had zero issues and love the rear kitchen. We are in the midst of shopping for a big sectional J lounge sofa to fill the slide out, replacing the current sofa and freestanding dinette. The Dinettes never been used and we'd like more space to relax when the weathers no so nice.

RE: size of fifth wheel

Im not going to get into the tow vehicle arguement but I think the weights youre quoting are unrealistically low for 37-40' trailers. Just another opinion but the length of the trailer means nothing to me with regards to towing a trailer, its total weight, frontal area and how its balanced is going to determine how it travels.

RE: HWH Hydraulic Leveling System - Fifth Wheel???

RV'n is like an addiction - those with the most toys and gadgets on their rig wins! As you can see from Britt's rig, he's well ahead of most of us. :)
The reason I asked about the jacks lifting the tires off the ground is two fold; I purchased a 20ton bottle jack from a hardware store and i could barely get the tire off the ground enough to polish the rims. I even changed the hydraulic fluid to make sure. They just don't make a good jack these days I guess. I opted for the chrome rims instead of the bathroom mirror option. Shaving is a bit of a pain but shiny wheels are great! The other issue is storing the rig in the winter and getting the tires off the unit and out of the weather. I priced Goodyear 17.5 H's and they are about $400 each. A thought was I could easily take the tires off in the winter and put the rig on blocks.
Sounds like I have some catching up to you guys and your fancy hydraulic lift kits. :)
Paul
you could always shave using those shiny wheels as a mirror. Id imagine it would be like shaving in a fun house mirror.

We've got the ultra fabs and they work great, like was already stated they are a clone of the JT's.

RE: Towing swivel trailer behind 5vr

12ryders picture shows a 2 wheel trailer setup with 2 ball hook up which is a double tow combo. Tripple tow is 3 trailers. There was one poster that had a single swivel wheel factory built trailer that permantly attached the RV rear frame that articulated up and down. With no ball/no pintal/no 5er pin I wonder how its classified legally.
Jim
I believe that would be classified as a tag axle, part of the trailer towing it but subject to the highway tolls of an extra axle.

RE: Cool!, hurry up before diesel prices kill it

I love my current duramax but I wouldnt even think of one of these till after the first 2 years of production, way too many new concepts being tried here. Someone else can be the discouraged guinea pig sitting in the dealership service dept waiting room.

RE: 2006 Chevy Diesel Update: It's Mine *pic*

I think you did good, got the same rig and wouldnt think of trading it for one of the new emission control equipped diesels. As a read thru this thread I also find it hard to believe someone paid $30k for a new truck that stickered for $52k.

RE: Which is better?....Jayco Eagle or Montana (qualitywise)

as has been noted in a prior post, there are many folks out there who are own and enjoy their Montana campers .... my problem with them is the warranty period and the fact that they use press board in their construction .... Jayco is a far better company and you won't find any press board in either of their Eagle or Designer lines .... of the two, I'd go with a Jayco .... one additional note, their Eagle line is not their entry level unit, it is their mid level line .... the Eagle Light (known until recently as their JayFeather line) is their entry level unit
Jim
I have heard this mentioned many times, please explain why press board is inferior to whatever else they are using, and I would guess it is plywood ????
Both plywood and osb are held together with glue. The montana may use pressboard but its one continuous piece for the whole floor. No soggy joints to worry about.

RE: MSRP Question

when we bought our Montana I found 6 different dealers with 6 different MSRP's for the exact same unit and there was $6,700 difference between the high and the low, all located in the same region of the US. We eneded up buying for just under 35% off of the lowest MSRP at a local dealer.

RE: Montana vs Mountaineer

We love our 2007 Mountaneer 307 RKD, trouble free and all the amenities we wanted at a great price. We're glad we bought when we did as they've made the rig smaller and taken away some valuable storage with the new units of the same floorplan.

RE: DO ANY OTHER GMC 6.0 LITER GAS ENGINES HAVE THIS PROBLEM

I had a kid at a taco bell drive thru tell me I needed to add oil to my brand new avalanche in 2002 cause it rattled so bad, I traded it with 25k on it. Piston slap is and has been an issue with GM's since they replaced the 350 and 454.
